Fairfield Lady Eagles Complete Sweepstakes

by Scott Batts

The Fairfield Lady Eagles completed the regular season as the district champions and will move into the playoffs as the top seed from District 19-4A.

Fairfield completed the season on the road in Madisonville and cruised to a 64-33 win over the Lady Mustangs.  The game was choppy the entire night with 63 fouls called and 68 free throws attempted.

Fairfield began with hitting the first shot of the game on a three pointer from Belle Johnson and Braden Bossier added another from the inside.  Madisonville tried to hit a couple of shots and only made three of their first ten.   Te’yalla Simpson had a shot with a foul to complete the first period and the Lady Eagles held a 11-7 lead.

Jarahle Daniels and McKinna Brackens had quick scores to open the second and the Mustang offense had trouble breaking the Fairfield press.  Madisonville committed ten turnovers in the period and the interior of the Lady Eagle offense took over with a pair of scores from Bossier and Simpson, with a couple of easy scores off turnovers from Jada Clark and a three pointer from Kayelee Adams.  The lead grew to 31-15 at the half.

Fairfield continued to work through foul trouble and add to the lead.  Breyunna Dowell, Brackens and Clark all scored on six straight possessions and blow the lead open to 49-21 after three.  Johnson hit her second three pointer of the game in the final period and the Lady Eagles held the lead to finish with the 64-33 win.

Clark scored 13 and Brackens added 11 in the win.  Fairfield moves on to take on the Center Lady Roughriders in Rusk on Monday night in the first round of the playoffs.
